1. What ACC Long is and what it is used for
ACC Long 600 mg effervescent tablets are used to liquefy respiratory tract mucus in acute or chronic bronchial and lung diseases, during which mucus production and elimination are impaired.

2. What you need to know before taking ACC Long effervescent tablets
ACC Long should not be used:

if you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any of the excipients of this medicine (they are listed in section 6);
if there is a severe exacerbation of asthma;
if there are long-term stomach and intestinal ulcers;
for children under 14 years of age.
Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking ACC if you have:

Skin and mucous membrane changes.
There have been very rare reports of severe skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome, temporally related to the use of acetylcysteine. If new skin and mucous membrane changes occur, it is necessary to consult a doctor immediately and stop taking acetylcysteine.
Bronchial asthma.
See also Paragraph 2 of chapter 2, subsection "ACC must not be used".
Stomach or intestinal ulcers or have had them in the past;

Hypersensitivity to histamine.
Prolonged treatment should be avoided in these patients, as ACC affects histamine metabolism and may cause signs of intolerance (e.g. headache, runny nose, itching);
inability to cough up mucus.
For children
, ACC Long effervescent tablets are not suitable for children under 14 years of age, as they contain an excessive amount of active substance, in which case it is recommended to use a medicinal preparation of a different strength, ACC 100 mg or 200 mg effervescent tablets.

Other medicines and ACC Long
If you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, or you are not sure, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Antitussives When
ACC is used in combination with expectorants, a dangerous build-up of secretions can occur due to a decreased cough reflex. Such combined treatment requires a particularly accurate diagnosis, so it is necessary to consult your doctor before using the mentioned combination.

Antibiotics
Experimental studies have shown that acetylcysteine weakens the effect of antibiotics (tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, penicillins). For safety reasons, antibiotics should be taken separately and after a break of at least 2 hours. This does not apply to medicines with the active ingredient cefixime or loracarbef. They can be taken with acetylcysteine at the same time.

Glycerol trinitrate (medicine for heart disease)
ACC Long may enhance the vasodilating effect of concomitantly administered preparations containing the active ingredient glycerol trinitrate (nitroglycerin).

Activated charcoal may reduce the effects of ACC.

Laboratory tests
Tell your doctor that you are taking ACC if you need to be tested for certain substances, as the drug can affect their determination:

salicylates (medicines used to treat pain, inflammation and rheumatism);
of ketone bodies in the urine.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Pregnancy
Since there is not enough experience with the use of acetylcysteine in pregnant women, you can use ACC during pregnancy only if your doctor considers that this medicine is definitely necessary.

Breastfeeding
There is no information on the excretion of acetylcysteine in breast milk, so you can use ACC during breastfeeding only if your doctor considers that this medicine is definitely necessary.

Driving and using machines
Influence on the ability to drive and use machines has not been observed.

The medicine contains lactose and sodium.
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some carbohydrates, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
One ACC Long 600 mg effervescent tablet contains 139 mg (or 6 mmol) of sodium. Must be considered if dietary sodium is controlled.
3. How to take ACC Long effervescent tablets
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. After establishing the diagnosis, the doctor selects the exact dosage and duration of the drug. It depends on the disease and its severity. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the following dosage is recommended.

Adult patients and adolescents 14 years and older

Half an ACC effervescent tablet 2 times a day.
Or 1 ACC effervescent tablet once a day (daily dose is 600 mg).
If the disease is acute, the drug is used for 5-7 days, if it is chronic, the drug may need to be used longer.
The tablet should be taken dissolved in a glass of water.
The solution should be drunk as soon as the tablets dissolve.
Abundant fluid intake enhances the mucus-thinning effect of ACC Long. If the symptoms worsen or the condition does not improve after 4-5 days of treatment, you should tell your doctor immediately.

What should I do if I overdose on ACC Long?
Overdose may cause symptoms of local irritation such as heartburn, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Even after taking a very high dose, no severe adverse effects or symptoms of poisoning have been observed so far. If you suspect that you have overdosed, you should still tell your doctor immediately.
